    [OOC]

@Graham: If you have any problem with my Flag, tell me.

    Mobile Weapon Selection

Unit: Vector Flag (Lockheed Flag Custom I)

    Special Features:
-Anti-Beam Coating (Effective against GN vulcans, pistols, and SMGs)
-Advanced EM-Based Thrust Vectoring System (For improved maneuverability)
    -Lyra (AI)

    Armaments:
    - x1 GN Linear Rifle (50 rounds), held in right hand.
    - x2 Linear Vulcan (unlimited), mounted on chest.
    - x2 Plasma Blades, stored in wrists, hand carried during use.
    - x1 Plasma Rotor (10 time use, effective against GN vulcans, pistols, and SMGs, and rifles), mounted on right arm.
    - x2 Missile Pods (8 plasma missiles each), mounted on wings.
    - x2 Anti-beam Grenades (effect last 2 of user's turns)

    [1st LT. Jinbu]

Jinbu's team had finished destroying a rebel mountain base in the mountains, and now they were returning back to their carrier.

One of Jinbu’s subordinates, 2nd Lieutenant Daniels, hailed him. He opened a holo-screen to speak with Daniels.

    “What is it?” he asked.

“Incoming heat source, most likely a mobile suit.” Jinbu’s GN-X soon detected the mobile suit as well. When the mobile suit came close enough to the squad, it was able to be identified as a Flag.

“This is a fucking joke, right?” the third GN-X pilot, 2nd Lieutenant Prick asked. “We just destroyed 8 mobile suits, and the rebels only send 1 mobile suit as reinforcement, and it’s just a Flag?”

“Don’t underestimate that Flag,” Daniels responded “For all we know an ace can be operating that unit.”

“Daniels is right, we shouldn’t become complacent,” Jinbu concurred.

The Flag (in fighter mode) had come into visual range by now. The unit had unique color scheme: black and navy with a red cross painted on its left shoulder. It also lacked a defense rod, featuring a rod shaped protrusion in its place. Otherwise, the unit looked pretty typical and wielded the standard armaments of a Flag (linear rifle and missile pods).

“Hey you in the Flag,” Prick called on an open channel to the pilot of the Flag, “It takes a lot of guts to come out here just to die. You deserve a reward: I’ll let you hit me once with that crap linear rifle of yours and then I’ll kill you.”

“What the hell are you doing Prick!” Daniel exclaimed.

“Relax Daniel, I just want to have a little fun before we leave.” Returning back to the Flag pilot he said, “Come on Flag, hit me right here if you can.” Prick taunted, tapping his GN-X’s chest with the side of his GN Lance. “Come on right he--”

Two rounds from the Flag’s linear rifle ripped straight through the chest (and GNT drive) of Prick’s GN-X and the unit exploded, creating a golden cloud of shrapnel and GNT-particles. On Jinbu’s screen, a signal lost message appeared for Prick’s destroyed unit.

Jinbu and Daniel were left speechless. They wouldn’t have had time to speak anyway; out of the cloud came a salvo of 16 missiles.

“Evade!” Jinbu yelled. He put his GN-X on full reverse, firing at the incoming missiles with his GN vulcans as he flew backwards. Two of the missiles managed to evade the Vulcan fire and smash into the lower part of his GN-X, blowing of off both its legs.

Jinbu’s cockpit shock violently from the explosions, and for the second time he saw another signal lost message. “Daniel!” To his right he could see another golden cloud, and the navy Flag circling around to finish him off.

“Damn Flag!” Jinbu fired a burst with his GN lance at the incoming Flag, forcing the mobile suit to dive down into the valley for cover. “You’re not getting away from me!” Jinbu followed the Flag down while he hailed his carrier. “This is Lieutenant Jinbu of Delta team. A lone mobile suit (he was too embarrassed to say it was a Flag) has just killed my subordinates and has inflicted heavy damage on my unit. I need backup.”

Graham Aker, or "Mr. Bushido" as his fellow A-LAWS soldiers preferred to call him, sat in the preparation room of the airborne carrier, waiting for Jinbu and his squad to return. His custom flag from the last battle with Celestial Being sat in the hangar, waiting for its chance to see honorable combat again. A holographic communication pane opened on the window to the hangar. It was one of the bridge-hands.

"Captain, there's a situation with the squadron. We've lost the signals of two of the machines and Lieutenant Jinbu reports that his Mobile Suit has taken heavy damage. He also said that they were attacked by a single unit."

That caught Graham's attention. He stood and donned his flight helmet. "I'm going." If it's just one unit, it might be that boy, he thought with something resembling joy in his heart. Moments later, he was inside the cockpit and watching the hangar open, revealing an expanse of mountains, rivers, and fields under a mildly cloudy sky. At one time in his life, he would have thought of the sight as beautiful. That time, however, was long gone. "Launching!" he said into the radio as he pushed on the throttle and shot out of the hangar.
Graham quickly oriented himself toward the site of the battle and took off in its direction.

He arrived in short order to find three heaps of burning wreckage that had not long ago been the GN-X team. His only hope for the pilots was that they had died well. When a scan of the area revealed nothing other than the husks of his fallen comrades, he activated an open communication channel.

"Whoever you are, I wish to engage you in an honorable duel. Show yourself." With the message sent, he waited. His instincts, however, told him it wouldn't take long.

Flag Fighters (Martin Lockheed vs. Graham Aker) Empty Re: Flag Fighters (Martin Lockheed vs. Graham Aker)

Post by Falken Mon Sep 21, 2009 2:04 pm

1st Lieutenant Graham Akre's Hangar, MSWAD, Solar Union, 2306:

Lockheed was nearly complete with the certification process to operate the Union Flag, but there was one more skill he wanted to learned before he shipped to his first assignment: mid-air transformation. Currently, there was only one pilot that had completly mastered the skill. That pilot was 1st Lieutenant Graham Akre, who had dubbed the skill the "Graham Special".

Yesterday, Lockheed had contacted Lt. Akre to discuss the possibilty of him teaching the Graham Special. Akre had agreed, instructing him to come and see him today at his hangar.

The hangar was where Lockheed was now, dressed in his battle dress uniform, waiting for Akre to return in his Flag.

Rebel Base, Caucasus Mountain Range, Georgia, 2311:

After dealing with the last GN-X, Lockheed had circled back to the now ruined rebel base. Once there, the surviving commander tasked him with removing boulders from the base entrance, which had been caved in by the attacking GN-X.

Lockheed had performed this job for about 10 minutes when Lyra alerted him to another mobile suit approaching the base. He then left the base in fighter mode to intercept the incoming suit.

"It's powered by a GNT-drive, so it's definitely an A-Laws machine," Lyra reported. "But I'm having trouble identifiying the model."

\"It's okay," Lockheed replied. "We're within visual range now, so you should be able to--" The sight of the mobile suit made him stop talking. He instantly recognized the mobile suit as being the GN Flag. There had only been one such unit built and that unit had belonged to his former mentor and comrade, Graham Akre.

"Graham, in the A-Laws? Impossible!" Lockheed knew Graham would never join such a vile organization like the A-Laws. He quickly caught himself. He was thinking of the old Graham Akre, a kind and noble man, the way Graham had been before becoming twisted by war with Celestial Being. The way Graham was now, it really shouldn't have suprised Lockheed if he had decided to do something like joining A-Laws.

The sound of Graham's voice over the radio confirmed what Lockheed had been dreading: \"Whoever you are, I wish to engage you in an honorable duel. Show yourself." Lockheed let out a heavy sigh. There was no denying it - it was him.

Lockheed opened a video channel to converse with him. "Graham, this is Martin Lockheed. Please tell me you didn't join the A-Laws willingly?"

Post by Graham Aker Mon Sep 21, 2009 2:31 pm

    Caucasus Mountain Range, Georgia, 2311:

Graham had landed his Flag on a fairly flat stretch of the mountains for the time being to save GN Particles when his E-Sensor chirped at him. A screen projected itself into his field of vision and showed him his enemy. "A Flag? It seems that boy isn't here." He was saddened, but could not back down after being the one that had offered a duel.

As it approached, Graham recognized it. That's Martin Lockheed's Flag. Is he piloting it or is it someone else? His question was answered when the pilot answered his earlier hail with a video communication. Lockheed hadn't changed much over the years, but Graham could see experience born of war in his eyes. He kept his face neutral while he listened and replied to his former ally. "Of course I did. I still have an oath to keep. And what about yourself, Martin Lockheed of the Rogue Squadron? Did you willingly join the anti-government forces?" It was a foolish question, yes, but one that he wanted to hear the answer for.

    ____________________________________________________________________________________

En Route to 1st Lieutenant Graham Aker's Hangar, MSWAD, Solar Union, 2306:

Graham flew as fast as he was allowed in the air space. The last operation had taken longer than expected and now he was going to be late to meeting Martin Lockheed for his lessons in mid-air transformation. Luckily, the rest of the team had flown slower than he had and were still in transit when he finally touched down and walked his Mobile Suit to its hangar. The younger pilot was already waiting for him.

As the boarding cable brought Graham to the ground, he removed his helmet with one hand and called out to Martin. "You'll have to forgive me. The operation took longer than expected." His feet touched the floor and he walked over to the promising young man. "It's good to meet you, Martin."

Lockheed doesn't get the Vector Flag until after he defects to Kataron, so Graham would have never seen it before.

    Caucasus Mountain Range, Georgia, 2311:

Graham's response produced an expression of scorn on Lockheed's face. "Still hiding behind that oath? For once, could you just be honest and admit the only thing you're fighting for is yourself and that warped sense of pride you have."

Lockheed transformed to mobile suit mode and landed atop a mountain peek located 300 meters away from Graham's position. "And yes, I did willingly join Kataron, with a little motivation from Major Lindt."

1st Lieutenant Graham Aker's Hangar, MSWAD, Solar Union, 2306:

Lockheed smiled and gave a quick salute to Lt. Akre. "I'm 2nd Lieutenant Martin Lockheed. It's a pleasure to make your aquantince, sir." He then noticed to Graham's normal suit, and his smile disappeared.

"Sir, I didn't know you had a assignment today. I don't want burden you further with teaching me anything today; I can come back tomorrow if that's alright with you."

    Caucasus Mountain Range, Georgia, 2311:

Graham's face twisted into a scowl. "How dare you insult the memory of Howard and Daryl." He could somewhat understand Martin's reasoning when it came to Major Lindt, though. The Major was not someone that Graham detested working with. He had no honor and was unnecessarily cruel. Given the opportunity, Graham could see himself killing the man or more likely putting him in a position to die easily. "This has nothing to do with pride, Martin; this is about honor." He doubted that his former comrade would believe it, but that is how he saw it.

"Now are you going to accept my challenge or not?"

Lockheed was so mad right now that he thought he was seeing red.

"You're the one insulting Warrant Mason's and Sergent Dodge's memory, by fighting for an organization whom works to persecute anyone who doesn't agree with the ideas of ESF! Although the goals may be different, the A-Laws operate just like Celestial Being!"

"And yes, I will accept your challenge, but I'm not accepting the challenge for 'honor', I'm accepting it because I want to protect these people from being terrorized by your friends again."

1st Lieutenant Graham Aker's Hangar, MSWAD, Solar Union, 2306:

Lockheed smiled again. "Really sir! Okay, then let's start today, just let me get to my normal suit and Flag!" Lockheed gave Lt. Akre another salute and then ran out of Akre's hanger to get ready.

Graham was furious. This man - this traitor - had the gall to say that he was the affront to the memory of his subordinates? He would pay dearly for that.

"Very well, then, Martin Lockheed of the Anti-Federation group Katharon! Defend yourself if you can!" With those words, Graham opened fire with his Linear Rifle and launched his Mobile Suit forward. The Gs pushed him roughly into his seat, but he ignored the discomfort and drew his Beam Sabre with the machine's left hand.

Flag Fighters (Martin Lockheed vs. Graham Aker) Empty Re: Flag Fighters (Martin Lockheed vs. Graham Aker)

Post by Falken Tue Sep 29, 2009 4:50 pm

    [OOC]

On the armaments list, I know I didn't mention anything about the plasma rotor being able to be used against linear rounds, but it can be.

    Caucasus Mountain Range, Georgia, 2311:

As Graham raised his rifle to fire, Lockheed sprung into action. He activated his main thrusters to accelerate forward, while raising his right arm over his chest same at the same time. Right before the rounds hit Lockheed, his plasma rotor activated. The rotor cut a flashing white circle in the air as it sliced the five linear rounds into molten bits. He then withdrew his right arm and drew one of his plasma sabers with his left hand.

Air Field, MSWAD, Solar Union, 2306:

Lockheed rolled right and then took a sharp dive to avoid incoming fire (paintball rounds) from Lt. Akre (in MS mode). His vision became tinged with red as he began to experience negative g-forces. "Dammit, I’ll never be able to shake him like this!"

Lockheed had mastered a basic mid-air transformation sequence within two days of training. But Lt. Akre wanted Lockheed to be able to transform during combat, so he had set up this mock mission. In the mission, Lockheed had to destroy a command bunker in an effort to disrupt the communications of the hostile forces. The bunker could only be destroyed by special bunker busting bombs that Lockheed now carried under his Flag’s wings. When Lockheed had began the bombing run, his initial strike was blocked by Lt. Akre’s Flag, which had appeared from right under a camouflage net to destroy his bombs with a linear rifle. Lt. Akre then attempted to “shoot” Lockheed down, but Lockheed managed to escape. However, Lockheed had to return to bomb the bunker, but he couldn’t do that until he shook Lt. Akre, which wouldn’t happen while he was in fighter mode.

But I can’t transform until I drop these bombs,” Lockheed thought as he leveled off his altitude. The bombs were affixed to his wings so he couldn’t transform until after he released them, but he couldn’t release them until he dealt with Akre first. It was a Catch-22.

In his effort to think of some new maneuver he could try, Lockheed came up with something. Careful to avoid another attack from Lt. Akre, Lockheed made a tight loop to reorient his Flag towards the direction of the bunker, and accelerated forward.

Flag Fighters (Martin Lockheed vs. Graham Aker) Empty Re: Flag Fighters (Martin Lockheed vs. Graham Aker)

Post by Graham Aker Tue Sep 29, 2009 6:02 pm

    Caucasus Mountain Range, Georgia, 2311:

At the commencement of the battle, Graham felt the anger drain from his body, replaced by the cold, calculating mentality that only a follower of The True Way could know. He hadn't expected the rounds to hit. He just needed to herd Lockheed into a close-quarters fight. The missiles pods on his Flag looked rather dangerous and Graham only had so many defense flares. A tiny smirk touched his lips when his enemy drew his sabre. Graham's Flag quickly closed the distance while Martin was defending his cockpit block. As soon as he was close enough, he slashed from left to right.

    ____________________________________________________________________________________

Air Field, MSWAD, Solar Union, 2306:

Graham grinned as Martin dove and avoided his attack. The young man learned quick. A slight shake in his Flag's flight path betrayed the pilot's state, however. He was experiencing a Redout. It could be dangerous, but Graham had long lived under the principle of participating in an act being the best way to learn the act.

He fired several more rounds as Lockheed leveled out, hoping to take advantage of Martin's temporary respite to land a hit. Unsurprisingly, he dodged the shots with ease and began a loop. It was tight and would have repercussions on the pilot if it went for too long, but at his speed and angle, there was nothing to worry about. Instead, Graham transformed into fighter mode and zipped to a point above the faux bunker. He drew his training Plasma Blade, ready to strike. "What are you trying to pull, Lockheed?" he said to himself.

Flag Fighters (Martin Lockheed vs. Graham Aker) Empty Re: Flag Fighters (Martin Lockheed vs. Graham Aker)

Post by Falken Thu Oct 01, 2009 12:36 pm

    [OOC]

Lockheed doesn't have any more missiles. He used them all up when he eliminated the GN-X squad earlier.

Does the GN Flag have a defense rod? And is GN Flag's beam saber still using a cable to connect it to the GNT drive?

    Caucasus Mountain Range, Georgia, 2311:

Like Graham, Lockheed let the rage he felt dissapate as he shifted his focus to fighting the battle. Lockheed was not a practitioner of bushido as Graham was, but he was a soldier, and as a soldier he knew there was no place for rage during combat. Rage clouded judgement, and this in turn usually resulted in death.

As Lockheed had drawn his plasma blade, Graham had come in close enough to make a horizontal cut. Lockheed kicked his legs back, and his thrust vectoring system went into full effect. The system generated EM-fields to funnel the exhaust from his leg-mounted plasma jets forward to create reverse thrusters. This had the effect of making the Vector perform a reverse flip, sending the mobile suit over Graham's head and away from his beam saber.

Now above Graham, Lockheed aimed his rifle and fired a burst of 5 rounds at Graham's GNT-drive.

Air Field, MSWAD, Solar Union, 2306:

By the time Lockheed returned to the bunker, Lt. Aker had already made it back there, hovering over the bunker with his training blade drawn.

"Sorry to dissapoint you, Lt. Aker, but there won't be any swordplay today,," Lockheed thought at he pitched his Flag up towards the sky. He acended rapidly, his Flag generating a large boom and a white wall of air as he went supersonic.

"Will he follow me?" Lockheed's plan depended on Lt. Aker giving chase. Lt. Aker could simply stay over the bunker, though - Lt. Aker really only needed to ward him off until Lockheed ran out of bombs to use, and then there would be no point in Lockheed continuing the mission. However, after training with Lt. Aker, Lockheed felt he had a good idea about Lt. Aker's personality and he had a feeling that Lt. Aker might not be satisfied with merely keeping him at bay, and would come to take Lockheed out.

((OOC: Graham's Flag is not equipped with a Defense Rod and yes, the Sabre is connected to the Drive.))

    _________________________________________________________________________________

    Caucasus Mountain Range, Georgia, 2311:

Lockheed's Flag shot up, out of Graham's forward display. An alarm indicating an enemy lock chirped and Graham turned, allowing the momentum gained from his full-speed charge carry him forward while simultaneously turning around to face his enemy. It hadn't been fast enough to dodge all the rounds, however, and one had hit his right shoulder. The damage readout determined that the damage was minor, however, and would not hamper his fighting ability.

Graham quickly boosted to the right, hoping to throw off another potential lock, and then closed the distance again. He thrust at Lockheed's primary camera array - the Mobile Suit's head - and attempted to disable it.

    _________________________________________________________________________________

Air Field, MSWAD, Solar Union, 2306:

Graham watched for a moment as Martin went into a steep climb, denying the opportunity for a close-range battle. You want me to follow you, don't you... "That's fine, then," he said as he sheathed his blade and transformed into fighter form. "I can dogfight, too!" he shouted as he activated his afterburners and tore through the sky, chasing Lockheed. He fired a slurry of seven rounds ahead of Martin's Flag. If he reacted fast enough, Martin would slow his ascent to avoid them. If not, then the fight would be over.
