ok i think we have an issue with pilots and engineers. the roles are every different and people here seem to want to combine them. OK so here is how i see it. Pilot would know how to only perform feild repairs, not do major overhauls on units. Engineer could do major overhauls but would not be able to pilot for beans. so i think something needs to be said about this or am i the only one that feels this way?

I feel like some people try to cover all of their bases too much.

Aye, you've got a point there!
A pilot's mechanical skill and a mechanic's pilot skill are about the same, Mu-Nii said so in the Observation Deck, we've got a lot of pilots and no one to fix the broken machines.
Billy's gonna be so busy fixing stuff, he has no time to make Trans-Am!
I'd say the best repair job I pilot could do would be a bodge it, it'll hold together for now, but it needs to be fixed properly later. As for mech's piloting, they could probably move an MS around with what they know of it's functions and systems, but only a pilot would have the ingrained experience to know what to do when an enemy is on you, weapon cocked, locked and ready to rock.

Re: Issue with pilots vs engineers
Yeah, there has to be a balance. You can't be an ace pilot AND a engineering genius at the same time.
